“Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 NLT
With immense pleasure, I greet you, my beloved Kearse family, with the joy of the Lord and eagerness to share information about the upcoming family reunion.
Our ancestral patriarch and matriarch, B.J. and Meta Bell Kearse, left a legacy of love, faith, and prayer. The years they journeyed together through life until BJ’s death in December 1976 and the years that Meta continued on until she was called to glory in August 1981, were a testament to their love of family, faith in God, and belief in praying. Their impact on those who knew and loved them has endured through generations up to this present day.
This legacy of prayer and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is evident in the number of Kearse family members who answered the call to preach and teach the gospel. It’s not something we talk about every day; however, we can’t help but notice how many men and women of the cloth are present at a family gathering, such as a reunion or a funeral.
To commemorate this legacy, the Kearse Family Reunion Committee wants to highlight the ministers and their ministries. Your help is needed in naming all clergy across the family lines of B.J. and Meta Bell Kearse. We are requesting the names of all direct descendants and their family members who are ordained, licensed, or ministers-in-training. The clergy attending the reunion may be asked to support activities throughout the weekend, including the morning worship service on Sunday, July 24. I will provide details before the reunion.
Please email the following information about the ministers in your family line to me at kearsedouglas@gmail.com by May 9, 2022:
Required: full name, city and state of residence, name of the Kearse family line
Optional: preferred title, church affiliation, area of ministry
NOTE: The name of a family line, with regard to the reunion, refers to the names of B.J. and Meta Bell’s sons and daughters who had children. All descendants (and their families) of a son or a daughter represent a family line. There are 10 family lines (Vanderbuilt and Carrie died before they were old enough to have children): Nether Kearse Culmer; Leon “Sonny” Kearse; Franzen Kearse Mann; William “W” Kearse, Sr.; Mathis “Mack” Kearse, Sr.; Adline Kearse Robinson; Latson Kearse; Bessie Kearse; Jehovah “Buster” Kearse, Sr., Ernestine Kearse Davis.
